Grupa Azoty supports fight against pandemic

Since the very onset of the pandemic, the Grupa Azoty Group has been actively involved in supporting various institutions combating COVID-19. Already in mid-March 2020, the management and supervisory boards of each of the Group’s key companies decided to donate PLN 750 thousand (per company) for that purpose.

Since then, the total amount of financial support donated by the Group has exceeded PLN 4m. The companies have also employed available technologies to manufacture products minimising the risk of a coronavirus infection. In an effort to protect the health and safety of us all, in early July the Grupa Azoty Group also became a Partner of the National Vaccination Campaign Lottery.

In consultation with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of State Assets, funds are transferred by the Grupa Azoty Group on an ongoing basis to hospitals, healthcare centres and sanitary services located primarily in the regions where the Group companies are based. The donations are both monetary and in kind, the latter including specialist medical equipment, medicines and hygiene products.

To date, the Group has donated more than 70 thousand protective gloves, including over 60 thousand ‘safe gloves’ covered with a layer of silver, manufactured at the Grupa Azoty S.A. Research & Development Centre in Tarnów. The R&D Centre also joined the #DrukarzeDlaSzpitali (#PrintersForHospitals) initiative, donating Tarfuse 3D printing filaments to make protective shields and goggles for hospitals. Filaments were also donated to support the project to build @VentilAid, Poland’s first ventilator. This open source project is being carried out by Polish engineers and designers sharing documentation of a ventilator that can be made anywhere using a 3D printer and some very basic parts.

Considering the increased COVID-driven demand for sanitisers and disinfectants and their periodic shortages, Grupa Azoty Puławy, a member of the Grupa Azoty Group, decided to make its own hand sanitiser liquid and surface disinfectants, having already produced a total of 230 litres.
